Out of the Box Business Ideas

With the way the current economy has been going more and more people are looking for creative “out of the box” business ideas to make more money. Whether you are looking to subsidize your monthly income or are trying to get back on your feet after being laid off from your 9 to 5 job, many of us are learning that there are creative ways to make money on the Internet and becoming an Internet Entrepreneur.

Throughout the next few weeks, I will be contacting a number of internet entrepreneurs that are making a move in this economy and setting themselves up with successful internet businesses. I will conduct a brief interview and ask them what tools their using to promote their businesses, what their business is about, how they came up with the idea and what was the motivating factor to start up their own business.

My first interview/case study is with Jason from IWearYourShirt.com. Jason is making a living off of promoting businesses by, you guessed it…wearing their shirts.

Jason, thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions. First off, can you tell me a little bit about your background?

I’m a 26 year old business-creative currently living in Jacksonvile, FL. I’ve used the internet and design for business pursuits for the last 10 years, both professionally and personally. After working a few design focused jobs, it became clear that the marketing and business end of things were much more interesting and rewarding.

TNX.net – New Kid on the Text Link Block

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Since jumping into the blogging game GrandmasterB.com has started to gain notice and started looking for new and exciting ways to bring in some revenue to build up the base of operations. In the past paid text links were the best way to increase your Google PageRank and start making some real cash. Many webmasters found the flaw in the old Google algorithm, and as many of us know Google doesn’t like us taking advantage of them. Google has of course changed their algorithms and doesn’t give much weight (or any weight) to paid links now. In some cases sites are penalized for having paid text links on their sites.

What if there was a way to make your paid links look more natural to Google, help you rank higher in keyword searches, and make some money while doing it? (more…)

GrandmasterB Featured on BuzzMyBlog

Monday, May 19th, 2008

My Monday could not have started of better…let me tell ya! Just two days removed from the two month anniversary of GrandmasterB dot com, I have been spotlighted as the winner of the Weekly Buzz contest on BuzzMyBlog. I have been reading Jeff’s blog for a long time now as most of my readers know and being featured as the Weekly Buzz winner is a great honor.

The 500 EntreCard credits that Jeff gives the weekly winner is a great prize, but the feature on a blog with a Google PageRank of 4 is like icing on the cake. I am very excited about the traffic that winning this week will bring. I could not have been chosen at a better time either. Jeff just had a great guest post published on ProBlogger yesterday and it is being well received by the community. If you haven’t read it yet, you should definitely give it a look.

In honor of winning the WeeklyBuzz and keeping with the theme of what the contest is all about I’m going to do something to show my gratitude. Since starting my blog I have received numerous tips from the great community of bloggers, so I’m going to give back to the community. I’m going to give away the 500 EntreCard credits that I won from the Weekly Buzz and pony up another 500 credits to give away to one lucky winner; which will be chosen by random drawing on Saturday, June 7th.

WIN 1000 ENTRECARD CREDITS!

Enter to Win a MacBook Air

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

What says Christmas in June better than an opportunity to win a MacBook Air? A chance to win ONE OF TWO MACBOOK AIRS that’s what! Mike Huang (Bloggin-Ads.com) is holding a contest which he hopes rivals the recent contest by Winning The Web. To get the party started Mike has procured two MacBook Airs as Grand Prizes and $1,000 in cash that will go to 10 winners ($100 each…thought I’d help with the math). The contest is running now through June 13…yes that is Friday the 13th. Perhaps Mike is giving away $4400 in cash and prizes to fend off bad luck? If you want to enter the contest there are a few ways to go about it and each method is worth a different amount of entries:

  • Subscribe to Feed (1 ticket)
  • Participate in Forums (1-10 tickets/day)
  • Participate on Bloggin-Ads (1 ticket/comment – Limit 5 per day)
  • Write About It (10 tickets)
  • Stumble / Digg / Propel (3 tickets)

When you do any of the previous actions to build up your tickets be sure to comment on Bloggin-Ads as to what actions you’ve done. It will help make the process of tallying tickets easier. What are you waiting for enter now CLICK TO ENTER!

Dumping EntreCard

If a picture truly speaks a thousand words, then this picture hits the nail on the proverbial head regarding my feelings towards most (not all) of the traffic generated by EntreCard. In the past week or so I have pretty much started ignoring EntreCard dropping altogether. At first I didn’t do it on purpose; life was just busy and I had pressing matters at hand. I started thinking about it though and to me it seems to take up more time than it’s really worth and in my opinion time is money. I am under the impression that most EC droppers are just in it to see how many they can drop in fifteen minutes and don’t really care about the content on the blogs they are dropping on. I understand that many of the blogs don’t appeal to everyone and that’s why I rarely seek out EntreCarders to drop on unless they have dropped their cards to me.
