Cooling Off with the Kardashians

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Boy that looks tastyI’ve recently become aware of the fact that the Kardashian ladies are lovers of the summertime favorite…ice cream. There have even been recent videos of Kim eating ice cream in a very naughty manner. If eating ice cream could ever be considered erotic; I firmly believe that the Kardashian sisters have mastered the skill. If you enjoy this picture there are many more out there, and I’ve compiled a few for your viewing pleasure at the end of this post.

As we all know July is notoriously one of the hottest months across America, and this year has been no exception. GrandmasterB spent last week, five miles from Hell (Omaha, Nebraska) and it was freakin’ miserable hot. The temps reached the high 90’s with 100% humidity…I literally felt like I was wearing a layer of sweat (I know that’s disgusting). Anyhow, the only saving grace was cooling off with a tall vanilla cone at Zesto’s Ice Cream Parlor (next to Rosenblatt Stadium). It’s too bad that Miss Kardashian wasn’t there to help me out with my cone…might’ve made the heat more bearable. ;)

Week in Review (7/7 - 7/13)

Monday, July 14th, 2008

It is that time again where we visit the past week of posts and events that have taken place here at GrandmasterB HQ. I am struggling to find the words to explain how successful the blog has been over the past week and for the month of July thus far. I am so excited about the direction of the blog; I feel like a kid in a candy store.

The image to the left summarizes the journey that I have been on with this site over the past four months, and I’m finally realizing that what I’m doing is being noticed. I know that most of you who visit the blog and are regular readers know how passionate I am about the tutorials that I have written thus far. I have put a lot of time and effort into each one to ensure that they are accurate, detailed and helpful to my readers. That hard work and dedication to providing my readers with a valuable content has translated into quality linkbacks and a record month for traffic to the site. In a single week, with all of the linkbacks to the tutorials I managed a whopping 5,101 page views and a grand total of 7,196 page views for the month of July; shattering the previous record of 5,169 set in May.

Minor Disruption of Service

Friday, June 27th, 2008

I apologize to all of my readers for the site being down earlier this morning. Apparently, the MySQL server took a dump due to someone having far too many connections. The activity caused the server to take a dump and dropped service to the blog. I am hoping that the offending party has or will be reprimanded and dealt with swiftly.

What’s Your Bucket List?

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Last night Mrs. GrandmasterB and I watched The Bucket List with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson. I had been wanting to watch it for awhile now, because I’ve been a big fan of both actors for a long time. Perhaps my favorite Morgan Freeman movie ever is The Shawshank Redemption. I don’t think I could pick out a favorite Nicholson movie, but if I had to I’d lean towards The Shining.

Anyhow, if you haven’t seen the movie yet both characters are terminally ill with cancer and write a list of things they want to do before kicking the bucket…The Bucket List. It got me thinking (which is always a dangerous thing); what would I want to do before I “kick the bucket”. Of course, if you’re younger you don’t think about it very much or you think of silly things. So what would GrandmasterB do? It’s hard to say really. I have always wanted to go shark diving off the coast of South Africa, see Machu Picchu and maybe travel to Thailand.

But what meaningful, fullfilling things would I want to do? Honestly, I don’t know what I would do or could do that would be meaningful or bring joy to other people. I’m sure as time goes by and I grow older and wiser I will find something worthwhile to add to my “bucket list”, only time will tell for sure. So…what would y’all want to do before you “kick the bucket”? What’s is one thing that you want to do in your life?
