We are now close to halfway through the 2008 NFL season, and the divisions are starting to shape up. The big surprise this season has to be the Indianapolis Colts at 3-4. There are rumors throughout the sports world that Peyton Manning is injured and his knee isn’t 100%. I for one would have to agree with that analysis. There has to be something wrong with that knee injury still.

Last night’s Monday Night Football game showed just how tough the Tennessee Titans are, and in my personal opinion they are the class of the league right now. Sitting atop the league with a 7-0 record in one of the tougher divisions in past seasons the Titans have to be the favorite to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. The biggest competition for the Titans would have to be the Steelers or the Patriots, but Buffalo and Miami might have something to say about that.

Call me butter baby, cuz I am on a roll! After a slow start to the 2008 season, I have finally caught a groove and I’m picking improving my record each week. Last week I went 10-4 losing on some a few upset games and one that I knew I should’ve gone the other way on…no worries though, a 10-4 record is nothing to sneeze at.

I had every intention of picking the St. Louis Rams over the Cowboys, and it cost me a shot at a tie-breaker for first place this week. For some stupid reason I also picked the Dolphins to beat the Ravens…that one had me kicking myself. Congratulations to this weeks winner Mac G’s World with an impressive 11-3 record. There was a four-way tie at 10-3 going into last nights game with Mac G being the only member to pick the Pats over the Broncos. After last weeks performance, I have moved up into the #9 spot just one game behind The Sports Dollar, Don Chavez and The Blue Workhorse. LOOK OUT YOU THREE! I’M GUNNING FOR YOU!

GrandmasterB isn’t always a big fan of the garbage on television that is commonly referred to as “reality tv”, and I generally try to steer clear of it altogether. Last night however, while watching The Soup they had some clips from a show on VH1 called “The Pick-Up Artist“. Seeing this clip and getting a huge laugh out of it, I knew that I’d have to tune in and give it a once over.

The premise of the show is to teach the contestants the fine art of picking up chicks. The host “Mystery” (pictured to the left) has been proclaimed as “the worlds greatest pick-up artist”…seriously? From what I’ve seen of the show the guy can definitely work a room, but is it all just for the show? This guy looks like he’s more of a dork than the contestants…and they are some big time dorks.

I can’t believe that I forgot to post the update for the pigskin picks yesterday. It was another crazy week in the NFL and another week where the NFC East; the so-called powerhouse division of the league laid an egg. The early season favorite Dallas Cowboys managed to lose what should have been an easy win against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals have emerged as the class of the NFC West this year with a surprising record of 4-2.

I did manage to finish the week with an 8-6 record after tanking during the early games and only managing to hit 4 of the first 8 games. With another “winning” week under my belt I managed to crack into the top 10 with an overall record of 52-36 (.590). I keep waiting for that one breakout week, but with the uncertainty within the league that could be awhile before that shows up. Congratulations to Yep-Yep for winning the weekly competition with an impressive 10-4 record…NICE JOB! Here’s how the rest of the competition faired for the week.

Week five is in the books and GrandmasterB pulled off another week in the win column. I managed to finish off the week at 8-6 and took the #6 spot behind Bosco’s brown hairy behind. I’m going to have to take a look at Bosco’s picks, because I was dead on with the tie-breakers this week. I’m smelling something foul…time for an investigation I think.

This week there was definitely a lot of bunching up in the picks. The top four spots logged in 9-5 records with Tail Gating Ideas taking the top spot for week five. Behind that yours truly managed to fit in nicely with five other bloggers at 8-6, and there were eight other bloggers that went 7-7 for the week. This 2008 NFL season is definitely not easy to figure out. The biggest surprise has to be the AFC West with the Broncos leading the way at 4-1, with a two game lead over San Diego at 2-3. I’m not sure what is going on in San Diego, but Norv Turner better get his bags packed…especially after the 10-17 loss to Miami last week.

With my 8-6 record this week, I managed to move up the rankings to #12 (+3). Things are starting to look up for GrandmasterB; with a few more winning weeks I think I can crack the top ten. Here’s how things broke out last week.
