I have seen some crazy and quirky stuff before and then I saw Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. This wildy inventive web show from Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon is quite hilarious. Unfortunately, the new show has received so much buzz that the site has crashed and is no longer reachable. I was able to download a copy of the first act on iTunes and watch it before that went down as well. The series of three videos was created by Joss Whedon during the WGA strike. His brothers Zack and Jed and Jed’s Fiancé Maurissa Tancharoen helped Whedon also helped co-write the series.

The premise of the show is that Dr. Horrible (played by Neil Patrick Harris or NPH) is this low-rent, ultra shy villain that wants to become part of this group of baddies known as the Evil League of Evil. Throughout the show he is defeated numerous times by Firefly/Serenity star Nathan Fillion who plays Captain Hammer. The show also has one other interesting twist…it’s a musical. Hearing Neil Patrick Harris swoon over his object of affection Penny (Felicia Day) is quite humorous and at the same time genius.

Until the official site comes back online, they install new servers or find some other way to provide us with the video for download; you can check out the official fansite Doctor Horrible dot net. There’s a brief preview of the show and some other information regarding this internet sensation…check it out, and if you can finally download it on iTunes do it. It’s worth the $1.99…trust me!
