GrandmasterB is resituating the monthly reviews to coincide with actual month-end instead of the site’s birthday (March 20th). I think this will be easier overall to keep track of traffic reports, upcoming events, etc. The month of May was also the first month that I had the site running on all cylinders. Back in April, I had updated the footer template on WP and had forgotten to make sure the Analytics script was still there. Needless to say, I had two or three days where traffic didn’t record so the numbers were a bit askew.

With May being the first full month of a fully functional statistical data it sets the bar for months to come. I managed to find a lot of great ways to build up traffic and really hype up the site last month. From the magic of catchy post titles to a surprising response from my first tutorial, GrandmasterB.com managed to finish the end of the month with a big bang!

As many of you know that follow my Weekly Review posts I broke two of my traffic goals in the month of May. Now with the goal of 500 visits surpassed it’s time to move onto ONE GRAND! I’ve been averaging 200+ visits per day during the week, but I need to find something that gets weekend readers excited. The weekends have been exceptionally slow for GrandmasterB, so finding what will bring in readers and get them to spread the buzz is going to be a big challenge. For the past two weekends the site hasn’t gotten above 45 visits on a single day. I’m not sure what to attribute the slow traffic with, it could be the temperature is warming up, weekend traveling, heck I don’t know but it’s killing me trying to break the cycle. I won’t worry too much…I’ll knock it out of the park soon enough. So what were the numbers for the month? Let’s take a look…

TRAFFIC NUMBERS

  • Site Visits: 4,046
  • Visitors: 3,451

  • % New Visits: 84.33%

RANKS, LINKBACKS, ETC

NEW BLOG LAUNCHED: Arriesgado Clothing
GrandmasterB has just put the finishing touches on a new blog for Arriesgado Clothing. Located in Vail, Colorado Arriesgado Clothing is taking the Vail Village by storm with their high-end clothing brands in Vail’s hottest new district Arabelle at Lionshead Village. Even if you’re not in the Vail area you can shop at their online store for great fashions from Free People, Junk Food, Rebel Spirit, Retro Sport and more. The Retro Sport brand is by far my favorite as they take your favorite sports teams (NHL, NBA, NFL and NCAA) logos and distress them on cool shirts and hats. Definitely give them a look!

NEW TUTORIAL COMING: Killer Metallic Text
This is the tutorial to end all tutorials dealing with metallic text. It’s not your traditional tutorial on giving text that metallic or chrome look. I’ve found a super cool technique and I’m going to share it with my readers.

NEW CUSTOM THEME FOR MRPAPPAGIORGIO.COM
I’m working on a custom theme for my good pal Mr. Pappagiorgio. He’s been extremely patient while I’ve been finishing up the Arriesgado project. I’m a little bit worried about this theme though. The concept is so freakin’ cool and is shaping up to be something the blows away my own theme. I’m afraid after it goes live I’ll be forced to raise the bar for my own site. I should be done relatively soon…I HOPE!

That’s about all for the May issue of the Month in Review. If you want to keep up to date on what GrandmasterB is up to, please subscribe to the feed. You’ll be happy you did.
