It’s No Holliday in Rockies Country
Tuesday, November 11th, 2008
Well Rockies fans…they did it again! The Meathead Monforts have crushed Rockies fans one more time. I thought that the Monforts had promised us they were working to improve the team? Well, in what can only be described as an effort to dump salary the Rockies are moving to trade 2007 MVP Runner-Up Matt Holliday to the Oakland Athletics for “three prospects”.
Three Prospects? What the hell does that mean? It means the three players that they’re trading for are basically fluff, filler…garbage if you will. Why the organization would trade away a proven player, for prospects is beyond my comprehension. It’s not like Matt Holliday wanted more money. He said he was looking for a multi-year deal, but would go year-to-year if they couldn’t reach a long-term agreement. Basically, he told the front office he was willing to take less money to stay with the Rockies.
There are going to many Rockies fans (your truly included) that won’t be picking up options for season tickets, 20-game plan tickets…hell I might boycot the team altogether in 2009! Every season the Rockies front-office finds a way to screw their fans, and this year is no exception.
As if losing Holliday wasn’t bad enough, Mrs. GMB is especially upset and is threatening to become an A’s fan and follow her Summertime crush to Oakland. I’m only hoping that she changes her mind and maybe looks to Troy Tulowitzki for her 2009 Summertime Crush! There’s no way that I want to move to Oakland…I can’t imagine Holliday wants to either.
Thanks for the great times Matt! I know that this Rockies fan is going to miss having you in the lineup. I better get ready for another losing season. I guess that one trip to the World Series was good enough for the Meatheads!
