Cuzoogle’s Pigskin Picks: Week Eleven

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

GrandmasterB is used to having Mrs. GMB beat him down, but after this weeks action…I received a beatdown from another woman. This week Apryl from Women Like Sports tallied up an impressive 14-2 record and took the weekly prize in the Pigskin Picks contest. What surprises me the most is she was 14-1 after the Sunday games, and the one game she missed was the Tennessee Titans v. Jacksonville Jags game.

While I contemplated picking the Jags over the Titans, I thought twice about it and went with the Titans. Once again the Denver Broncos managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. That’s the second week in a row that I’ve picked against them and they won. I’m going to pick them this week over the Raiders; they better not let the Raiders win. If they do…Mike Shanahan is going to get a visit from GrandmasterB and it won’t be pretty. I know where your team practices Mike…BEWARE OF MY WRATH.

Cuzoogle’s Pigskin Picks: Week Nine

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Another week is in the books sportsfans! GrandmasterB is rolling after what was almost a disaster of a week. Watching Sunday’s games I was stressing, because most of the teams I had picked were down. Luckily, there were some great comebacks and I came out of the week unscathed with a 10-3 record and finishing tied for second with Buzz Pirates. This week’s winner was Tailgating Ideas who picked up his second winning week of the season. (more…)

Cuzoogle’s Pigskin Picks: Week Eight

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

We are now close to halfway through the 2008 NFL season, and the divisions are starting to shape up. The big surprise this season has to be the Indianapolis Colts at 3-4. There are rumors throughout the sports world that Peyton Manning is injured and his knee isn’t 100%. I for one would have to agree with that analysis. There has to be something wrong with that knee injury still.

Last night’s Monday Night Football game showed just how tough the Tennessee Titans are, and in my personal opinion they are the class of the league right now. Sitting atop the league with a 7-0 record in one of the tougher divisions in past seasons the Titans have to be the favorite to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. The biggest competition for the Titans would have to be the Steelers or the Patriots, but Buffalo and Miami might have something to say about that.

Cuzoogle’s Pigskin Picks: Week Six

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

I can’t believe that I forgot to post the update for the pigskin picks yesterday. It was another crazy week in the NFL and another week where the NFC East; the so-called powerhouse division of the league laid an egg. The early season favorite Dallas Cowboys managed to lose what should have been an easy win against the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals have emerged as the class of the NFC West this year with a surprising record of 4-2.

I did manage to finish the week with an 8-6 record after tanking during the early games and only managing to hit 4 of the first 8 games. With another “winning” week under my belt I managed to crack into the top 10 with an overall record of 52-36 (.590). I keep waiting for that one breakout week, but with the uncertainty within the league that could be awhile before that shows up. Congratulations to Yep-Yep for winning the weekly competition with an impressive 10-4 record…NICE JOB! Here’s how the rest of the competition faired for the week.

Cuzoogle’s Pigskin Picks: Week Four

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

I don’t think that I will ever figure out the magic formula for picking football games. While I still had a winning week (8-5), there were some really oddball games on Sunday.

The Broncos laid up a stinker at Arrowhead extending their losing record under Shanahan at KC to 3-11. For some idiotic reason I picked the Cards to beat the Jets…mistake! The the two powerhouses of the NFC East, Dallas and Philly are upset. How the Eagles get stuffed by the Bears on four tries at the goalline is beyond me? Good ‘ol T.O. has gone back to his whining ways after their loss to the Skins. Wasn’t he just crying last season that everyone was too hard on Tony Romo?

I had to get on my boy Cuzzy for messing up my picks though…he put me down picking the Ravens over the Steelers on Monday Night. There’s no way I would ever do that. He’s fixed the standings and I’m still in my #15 spot, I’ve got to put together a few decent weeks or I’m never going to get to the top ten. Here’s how last weeks standings played out.
