Week in Review (9/8 - 9/15)

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

It’s been quite awhile since I wrote up a week in review, so what better time to get back in the saddle than now? As many of you know, I struggled last month to get anything of substantial value posted up on the site and it was very frustrating. If anyone thinks that running a blog is an easy task; they’re mistaken. Finding new content that will drive readers to the site is a pain, and it only gets harder as you go. Last week I hit stride with a few quick hits and tested my hosting on Tuesday gathering up a record 315 simultaneous users online.

I’m still going through my Alexa Rank experiment that I eluded to in the August Month in Review. I think it’s working out, but the widget I installed in the sidebar is a little bit flaky. Somtimes the number fluctuates back and forth and makes me wonder just how accurate it is. (more…)

Week in Review (3/31 - 4/6)

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Another week has come and gone here at GrandmasterB.com, and I must say it flew by rather quickly. You know what they say though…time’s fun when you’re having flies. Is that right? With baseball season getting kicked off this past Monday; I didn’t take much time to concentrate on getting up new posts. Instead I decided to watch the Colorado Rockies squeak out a 2-1 win in their first game against St. Louis and then lose the next five games in a row. Perhaps this week I will concentrate on writing more, and who knows…maybe the Rockies will win a game without me watching. Onto the review…

Troubles with Technorati and Feedburner

Monday, March 31st, 2008

In the past few days I have noticed that both Technorati and Feedburner are not updating properly. For example, I know that I have more than 2 subscribers to my RSS feed. I even subscribed via Google Reader to see if it would update; alas…it did not. I have searched the Feedburner forums high and low for a solution to the problem and found nothing.

In regards to Technorati, for some reason the site hasn’t pinged in 3 days and the last post that it shows is from March 27th. I have tried to ping directly from the website, and even added the ping url (http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping) to Wordpress. Neither seems to be working, and I’m beginning to get a tad frustrated. I have checked the instructions for adding the URL to Wordpress twice and I believe it’s setup correctly under Settings > Writing > Update services I have the following URLs (separated by line breaks):

I’m 99.9% sure everything is accurate, but you never know about that 0.1%. If any of you have any tips or recommendations I am all ears (on either problem I’m having). I thank you in advance for your help.
