Week In Review - (5/5 - 5/11)

Monday, May 12th, 2008

I am really behind schedule today. Normally, I would have my Week in Review post done by lunchtime Monday afternoon. However, I had a busy day at the office and not much time to do anything on the blog (other than the Heads Up Seven Up Blogroll). I’ve been working on a customized WP theme for a client, and it’s nearing completion. I spent most of the weekend working out the color scheme and graphic elements. It won’t be nearly as explosive as the GrandmasterB dot com design, it’s more of a clean corporate look. I should be finished with it in the next few days and then it’s onto the next project. Always busy here at GrandmasterB HQ!

May 7: Website Review: iDesign Studios - I decided to do an unsponsored review of one of the websites/blogs on my RSS Reader. iDesign Studios has a really cool, clean look and is definitely worth a look. The topics covered in the blog are always a great read too.

May 8: I Wanna Be a John Chow Clone… - After cruising around the blogosphere I came across Duckeldanny’s Making Money Blog. This clone clown has completely ripped off John Chow’s site and posted it as his own. Not that I’m sticking up for John Chow though. I’m more concerned with the well being of the individuals who believe this guy knows anything about Making Money Online. He’s managed to weasel his way up the ranks and is now charging people for advertising…poor fools.

May 10: I Finally Saw Iron Man - Contrary to popular belief (or at least what one reader thought) I did not meet Iron Man. It’s unfortunate though, because as Cuzzy stated it would’ve been great publicity for the blog…haha. After seeing Iron Man (the movie) I wrote up a brief review of what I thought of the film.

That’s it for the Week in Review…not a very busy week in posts I know. Don’t forget I am still trying to build up votes for the Blogger’s Choice Awards for Best Blog Design…PLEASE VOTE FOR ME!

I Wanna Be a John Chow Clone…

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

I can’t believe it, but it seems like every blogger out there reads the story of the infamous John Chow and wants to be just like him. Some think it’s cool, others think it’s hilarious…me, I think it’s friggin’ lame. This is going to come as a surprise to my readers, but I think for today’s post I’m going to flip the switch to the dark side and it might get ugly. Fear not, the true GrandmasterB will return shortly.

I have only seen one spinoff of the John Chow idea that really impressed me and got my attention…John Cow. I mean how could it not get your attention? Taking a famous blogger’s name and turning it into a cow theme is hilarious and well done. Alas, I am not here to talk about John Cow, because quite frankly it’s not really a clone…it’s original. What I am here to talk about are the no talent hacks that somehow believe that they are the next great thing on the Net. Guess what clones (or should I say clowns?)…you’re not even close.
