Week In Review - (5/12 - 5/18)

I have been working to get some things done at the office before the big Memorial Day weekend so I don’t come back to a ton of work after five days off. This past weekend was the two month anniversary of the site and I managed to get an insane amount of traffic to the site over the past week (mainly because of that silly Miley Cyrus post…hehe).
Back on April 16th I surpassed my goal of 200 visits in a day (according to Analytics) , so I raised the bar to 300 visits for my next goal. The stats dipped a little bit and got back over 200 on May 3rd (Economic Stimulus and Another Year Older), then on May 14th that little post I mentioned earlier got noticed and blew up. That day I broke the 300 visit mark for the first time tallying 359 visits. The site has maintained a fair amount of traffic every day since averaging just over 150 visits/day. The extremely cool thing about that is the aforementioned post was noticed by Google and was listed sixth for the search term “Miley Cyrus Got Milk Ad”. Now is not the time to rest on my laurels though…onto bigger and better posts. There’s always room for improvement, so until that next monumental post here’s the Week In Review.
May 14: Miley Cyrus’ Got Milk Advertisement Gets Hugh Hefner Excited - Well, not only did The Hef get excited about the Miley Cyrus Got Milk? Advertisement, but apparently so did everyone else on the blogosphere. This is the post that sent traffic through the roof (or at least over 300 visitors). Obviously, there was more to this post than just a catchy title and image though. Inside there were details about my rise in AlexaRank and the increase in linkbacks from other blogs.
May 15: The Power of StumbleUpon - Most of the traffic from the previous day came from the power of stumbling. By spreading the word amongst fellow bloggers I was able to get some notice and build up some great numbers. Don’t underestimate the power of a good stumbling.
May 15(2): Zero Punctuation: Grand Theft Auto IV - A hilarious review of Grand Theft Auto IV by one of the coolest guys in the biz.

My favorite post of the week was the GTA IV review. I hadn’t seen it before and thought it was hilarious. Keep up the great work, blog is great!

@ Mr. P - You gotta check him out every week. My favorite review by him is the Orange Box. After seeing that review the folks at Valve invited him to tour their facility. He reviews that trip too.
@ cuzzy - I’m feeling 500 visits is right around the corner.
@ JimboyPogi - I use the WPStats plugin for Wordpress and Google Analytics for more precise statistics.
